SIRIMON UP- CHOGORIA ROUTE IN 2025
Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest mountain at 5,199 meters (17,057 ft), offers one of the most breathtaking trekking experiences on the continent. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the mountain is a stunning blend of rugged peaks, pristine alpine lakes, and lush forests teeming with wildlife. Hiking Mount Kenya is more than just a climb — it’s a journey through five distinct ecological zones, from tropical rainforests and bamboo thickets to high-altitude moorlands and glacial peaks. Trekkers can choose from several scenic routes such as Sirimon, Chogoria, and Naro Moru, each offering unique landscapes and levels of challenge. Unlike Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya’s routes are less crowded, providing a more serene and authentic mountain experience. The trails lead to awe-inspiring viewpoints like Point Lenana (4,985 m), which can be reached without technical climbing skills — making it ideal for adventurous hikers seeking a rewarding summit experience. Along the way, hikers encounter crystal-clear streams, alpine meadows, and rare flora such as giant lobelias and groundsels. The lower slopes are home to wildlife including elephants, buffaloes, and various bird species, adding a safari-like touch to the adventure.
